Fondateur de l’Ensemble El Darbak, auteur, compositeur, interprète et directeur artistique de la compagnie Mille et Une Nuits, Djamel Mellouk enseigne avec passion et rigueur les rythmes et la technique propres aux instruments orientaux.
Founder of El Darbak, author, composer, performer and artistic director of the company Arabian Nights, Djamel Mellouk teaches with passion and rigor rhythms and own technique to the Egyptian and Middle Eastern instruments.
Djamel Mellouk est titulaire d'une maîtrise de sociologie et d'une maîtrise de philosophie des sciences a la Sorbonne (Paris IV). Il est ensuite journaliste pour FRANCE 2 puis rejoint l'Express.
Djamel Mellouk holds a Master of Sociology and a Master of Philosophy of Science at the Sorbonne (Paris IV). Works as a reporter for FRANCE 2 french TV then joined Express Magazine.
En 1999, il fonde El Darbak une formation musicale de 5 instrumentistes. Il sort 2 albums Alhambra (DOM, Al-Hamrâ la rouge) et Alf Leïla wa Leïla (Mille et Une Nuits, DOM). Parallèlement il poursuit sa carrière de musicien. L'enregistrement du 3ème album a lieu à la Cigale en live en 2006. Sa création Zenzela est en tournée internationale depuis 2007.
In 1999, he founded El Darbak musical ensemble with 5 instrumentalists. He released two albums Alhambra (DOM Al-Hamra red) and Alf Leila wa Leila (Arabian Nights, DOM). In parallel he continues his musical career. The recording of the third album takes place at La Cigale live in 2006 and his creation Zenzela is in international tour since 2007.
